There's a chill in the air, we have already experienced the first coating of snow on the roads, and the skies darken earlier with each passing day. We hope the opportunity to take fitness classes safely from your own homes is a welcome relief in the months ahead. We are here for you! Mare, Renee and Sharyn
TBT87 News: HAPPY 23rd ANNIVERSARY TO TOTAL BODY TRIFECTA! My original partners Brian Bayly, Ivy White and I opened our doors at our first location at 87 Church Street in Saratoga Springs on November 9, 1997 with 24 classes, seven days a week. Those were the days of cassette tapes, shiny unitards with matching belts/headbands, Madonna microphones in a fanny pack and the advent of kickboxing and pilates!
Business was interrupted by a devastating fire on March 5, 2005 in the apartment above our studio that resulted in the loss of all our equipment and the building where we rented - both a total loss. The National Museum of Dance became our temporary home for 4 months until our former landlord Bill Wardell and our devoted clients and staff renovated the addition on his plumbing shop.
We reopened in July 2005 on the same corner lot as our original space. The grand opening at 61 Lawrence Street, Saratoga Springs was made even more celebratory with a ribbon cutting ceremony that included NYCB principal dancers Jenifer Ringer and James Fayette plus Soloist Tom Gold.
In August 2012, the landlord sold the lot and the new owner evicted us. We had less than 30 days to vacate the premises by noon August 31st. Again, with the help of my clients, we moved to My Gym Fitness Center in Ballston Spa. This time, my business was a subcontractor so we could not offer the number, length or frequency of classes we were accustomed to. However, we had a huge studio, all my equipment was at the-ready, my staff and clients followed me, the gym staff welcomed us, and it felt like a new home. And then COVID hit...
I admit I felt sad, lost, and wondered if I'd ever find that "family fitness feeling" again. Thanks to Zoom and all of you, I type this with great joy and gratitude. Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on our blessings - and I attribute those feelings to the 60+ incredible members and staff of TBT87. Thank you for supporting this labor of love, Mare
